Raw From The Road, Silk Scarves by ROKA, Success, Little by Little, April 19, 2016
I hope you will go out and let stories, that is life, happen to you, and that you will work with these stories…
water them with your blood and tears and your laughter till they bloom,
till you yourself burst into bloom.
― Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Women Who Run With the Wolves
I am a success.
There, I said it – and to be honest with you, I never thought I’d say or write those words.
But I am a success, even if I’ve never successfully launched a business yet, nor achieved worldwide fame as an artist.
And yet, for the first time in 40 years, I can say that I’m a success, just as I am.
See, for too many years I based my worth and self-esteem on how much money I made, which was never very much. And so I always ended up feeling worthless, dependent, and incapable to create the success that would bring me financial abundance.
I always wanted to incorporate what I do – which is to create beauty through image – into offering something more than a print, something that could be fine-art and functional at the same time.
Wanted to, but never did. Until today. With much help from mentors and friends, and giving myself a good talking to more than once, I’ve broken out of my confines – and finally created something that I really want to – no MUST – show the world.
Silk scarves are the first of these creations and I am excited to share them with you. I set out over a year ago to print my work on fabric and today I have a limited edition collection of silk scarves designed with my photographs of nature.
So regardless, if I sell one scarf or not, (and I would love to sell and share many!) I have succeeded in accomplishing this step of my goal – which is to become a professional artist, or art-preneur.
There are 8 designs in this limited edition (10 of each design) and to date, there are 3 of each design available now. The remaining 7 are available to order with approximately a 3-week turn around or shorter. Each scarf is embedded with the ROKA insignia, accompanied by a 3x3in. archival signed print of the original image and delivered in the designer ROKA packaging.
Once all the scarves of this collection are sold, they will not be replicated and just like purchasing a limited edition print, the buyer will be a collector.
I am so excited to share these pieces of wearable fine-art on silk crepe de chine with you.
To celebrate this completed step of the journey, which feels like a birthing to me, I am offering a special discount to commemorate Mother’s Day. And… I believe we are all mothers… mothers of furry ones, friends, parents, our land and ourselves.
Thank you for being part of this adventure…
