Whiter Shade of Pale

A human being is a being who is constantly ‘under construction,’ but also, in a parallel fashion,
always in a state of constant destruction.

Happy Monday!

Just a heads up that I will be sharing some of my photographic work which is also posted on my Instagram account @robbiekaye and Robbie Kaye Arts FB biz page.

For the last 5 years, I’ve been working on a black and white photographic typology project “Deconstruction,” which I am completing and preparing to submit to galleries for exhibition.

In the interim I wanted to share a few images from this project.

In these self-portraits I am wearing white. White is the absence of color and remains as is, seen, yet not descriptive as a color.

The white dress signifies the innocence we came into this world with.  Some say it represents neutrality.

Did you know?

In physics, a color is visible light with a specific wavelength. Black and white are not colors because they do not have specific wavelengths. Instead, white light contains all wavelengths of visible light.

Deconstruction is the study of the process for I wonder about often, “Who are we without all that we do?”
Artist Statement/Deconstruction
As a photographer I am conditioned to look out and take photographs that speak to me. At this time in my life, I have turned the lens on myself, as I indulge myself in introspection and internal contemplation,

stripping away all that I have known until now, to see who I am without an identity. This series is an exploration, which I offer as an invitation for interpretation.

The images from Deconstruction are not yet on my website but will be added soon.
Thank you for your continued support and feedback!

Be brave, be strong, be YOU!

Have a great week!

Robbie

And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly,
Turned a whiter shade of pale
She said, ‘There is no reason
And the truth is plain to see.’
But I wandered through my playing cards
And would not let her be…
