"Red Earth Integration" 8 x 10, Acrylic on Canvas. In this time of reflection, I've done much reading about the integration of the soul and ego. Paradox is present in all of us and as I began investigating the nature of the ego and soul, I started realizing how important it was for me to integrate these two entities in order to live with more internal peace. For most of my life I have viewed these aspects as oppositional but now, as I learn more about the importance of both, the gap seems to be closing and an integration of sorts is taking place, little by little. The best way I know how to convey this integration through my art is with colors, melding into each other, creating unity and beauty.

 I create textural paintings on wood, aluminum and canvas. Some have resin underneath.

What is your inspiration?
 Life, nature, music, art that I admire and inspires me.

What is your artist story?
 I have been journaling my life through art since I was 16, through different mediums; music, writing, photography and painting. It is my intention to utilize my art as a way to insert beauty, inspiration and contemplation.

Today we will continue our conversation about how colour can affect our mood and emotions with Brown 🤎

Brown is a natural color, associated with the earth and as a result giving a sense of stability and support.

Although brown may not be as glamorous as other colors, its importance in painting is highly recognized by artists, who use browns such as burnt sienna and burnt umber to create subtle gradations from light to dark. The color brown, therefore, enables artists to create a sense of realism on the canvas.

🟤 How does brown make you feel? Brown is a warm neutral color - use brown art to conveys warmth and wholesomeness. Brown is also intrinsically connected with nature, giving it an earthy and wholesome mood, and connotations of fertility, growth, comfort, and nurture.

Brown is a relaxing color. It’s been linked to an increase in tryptophan (related to sleep and our immune systems) and serotonin (linked to mood.) Brown typically gives us warm, settled feelings, reminding us of connections to earth, home, and family.

Although brown has historically been associated with poverty, today associations with rustic living are often positive and desirable, with brown helping urban consumers to feel like they are reconnecting with nature.

"We Reminisced" 30 x 40, Acrylic on Wood. During this pandemic, did you find yourself reminiscing a lot? I did. Thinking of all the people I know all over and wondering if they're ok, reaching out and touching base even for a quick reconnection. In the extra time, I think of old memories, good and bad, like playing a movie in my mind of all the people and placed and experiences that have led me to where I am now and thinking... wow, what a full life I've had and feeling extremely grateful... even for the 'bad' memories (aka the opportunities to learn and grow as painful as they were). I still struggle with forgiveness for some of those memories... mostly for myself. It is, as they say, and I am, a work in progress. And so it goes... Wishing you all a beautiful day filled with memories that fill and expand your heart.

Today we will continue our conversation about how colour can affect our mood and emotions with Black 🖤 the symbol of elegance, power and sophistication.

Black is the darkest color, the result of the absence or complete absorption of visible light. It is an achromatic color, literally a color without hue, like white (its opposite) and gray. It is often used symbolically or figuratively to represent darkness, while white represents light.

Black was one of the first colors used in art. The Lascaux Cave in France contains drawings of bulls and other animals drawn by paleolithic artists between 18,000 and 17,000 years ago by using charcoal, and then using more vivid black pigments by burning bones or grinding a powder of manganese oxide.

⚫️ How does black make you feel? The color black affects the mind and body by helping to create an inconspicuous feeling or boosting confidence in appearance, increasing the sense of potential and possibility.

Black is bold, powerful and a little mysterious. If you want to convey a sense of luxury, you can’t go wrong with a simple black-and-white color scheme.

One good thing that has come out from this nutty time, in my experience, is that I am having some really good and deep conversations with people. I think this time has given us all an opportunity to reflect and connect a little deeper than the usual automatic way in which we communicate. Today we’ll continue our conversation about how colours affect our mood and emotions with Pink 💗

Pink (light red hue) is peaceful and soothing. It also symbolizes femininity, playfulness and romance.

Pink first rose to prominence as the favoured colour of Madame de Pompadour, a mistress of Louis XV. A specific shade of the colour was created and named for her by the Sèvres porcelain company, who enjoyed her favour.

How does pink make you feel? Some people describe pink as a colour that evokes feelings of joy and happiness. Other people see it as a vibrant and refreshing colour - it makes you think of springtime flowers and all things fresh and new.

Different pinks can give different vibes. A lighter pink lends itself to softness, innocence, and tranquillity. A brighter, more saturated pink like magenta or fuchsia can sway toward sexuality and strength. Pink can also be neutral and it has the therapeutic ability to calm and soothe individuals.

Today we continue our conversation about how colour affects our mood & emotions with Blue 💙 that is the most popular color in the world.

The first blue pigment was natural mineral azurite. Egyptians created ”Egyptian blue,” which quickly spread throughout the ancient world. During the Middle Ages, the recipe for Egyptian blue was lost, so azurite and expensive ultramarine from Afghanistan were the only sources of blue. In the 15th century, smalt, a finely ground blue glass, came into use for art.

In the early 20th century, Picasso has his ‘Blue Period’ when he painted many monochromatic paintings reflecting his depression following the suicide of his friend Carlos Casagemas.

🔵 How does blue make you feel? Blue is a serene and calming color that represents intelligence and responsibility. Blue is cool and relaxing. Light baby blue is peaceful, while dark blue can signify depth and power.

Blue is often used to decorate offices because research has shown that people are more productive in blue rooms. Blue can also lower the pulse rate and body temperature.
